Module Four Part IV: Blog Assignment

School choice improves public education. I feel this way because deciding the school that people want to go can determine the education that they are going to get. Going to a terrific school that is known for its compelling education can increase a student’s chances for succeeding in school and in life after graduating. That student can find a well-paying job, have enough money to buy a house, and raise a family. Students who go to a school that doesn’t do well academically have a high chance of dropping out and potentially relying on a minimum wage job to cover expenses because the school that they go to is not doing any favors to them.  I believe that competition to be accepted into a top tier school improves public education because everyone will feel motivated to be the best that they can so that highly academic schools are willing to accept them. On page 187 it states, “Some reformers believed that one solution was to apply business strategies, such as cons...

Separate but equal means that public institutions must separate the White and the Black people, but they were both still treated equally. In my opinion, separate but equal is not a viable option in education today. I believe this because school is going to be less diverse if African Americans and White people are forced to go to separate schools. Education with little to no diversity can impact a student’s performance in class, exams, and behavior. Less diversity can lower people’s chances of having a good paying job after graduation. Moreover, schools with less diversity can ruin its reputation and will lose money due to people not attending that school.  Furthermore, African Americans and White people are not going to understand how to accept diversity and celebrate differences if they attend schools that are only associated with their race. Learning to respect people’s differences is an important lesson to learn in life and going to school where you me...

We educate all children by providing them with lectures and textbooks so that children are given more information and knowledge about the concepts they are learning. Reading and listening are routines that children follow every day so that they fully grasp the concepts of what they are learning. Writing assignments is another way that students are taught in school so that their written communication is improved. Teachers encourage their students to participate in class so that children don’t feel bored, and they are physically active. They don’t want their students to leave the classroom feeling confused or overwhelmed. Teachers want children to feel engaged and motivated to learn, which is a big part of education. Children are given the opportunity to complete homework assignments and prepare for tests and quizzes. Manners are also important when it comes to education because children must be able to observe and listen to the details that are explain...

Public education unifies the United States in many ways. Education builds people’s knowledge about the world around them in regards to science, history, math, and English . Public education promotes equity for all schools. Promoting equity became the main goal in education since it encouraged people from different backgrounds to pursue the same level of education. The federal government play a huge role in promoting equity when the government passed the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, and the Individuals with Disabilities Act . The new laws that were created ensured that children who come from low-income and minority families obtain the same educational opportunity as everyone else. Federal and state programs allowed schools to provide school lunch and breakfast to children from low-income families. Equity was further promoted when public schools employed school nurses and other types of social services such as before and after-school care, counseling, and substan...

My name is Mihir Patel and I am a sophomore at New Jersey City University. My major is finance with a minor in business. My common interests are reading books, listening to music, and playing video games. The reason why I am taking this class is because I am fascinated to learn how the American education system has changed over the past number of years and how this has impacted teachers, students, and the staff. I practiced literacy at home when I am reading articles online and when I read English subtitles when the characters in a movie  are talking. Literacy is practiced in my community when people meet up at a park and have a book club. People have discussions on the chapters and make predictions on the events that are going to happen. My earliest experience of becoming literate was learning the alphabet when I was in kindergarten. My teachers helped me understand each letter and showed me words that begin with a particular le...
